
Khalid Masood
Hailing from the historic city of Lahore, Khalid Masood embarked on a life of service and honor when he graduated from the Pakistan Military Academy in September 1982. Commissioned into an elite Air Defence unit stationed in Quetta, Balochistan, his initial posting marked the beginning of a distinguished 25-year career in the Pakistan Army.
Early in his military journey, he served with the Armoured Brigade, gaining firsthand experience in high-mobility combat operations in Sindh. His commitment to excellence soon led him to a prestigious instructional role at the School of Army Air Defence in Malir Cantonment during 1990–1991, where he shaped the minds of future defenders of the nation.
In 1992, he graduated from the Command and Staff College, Quetta—an institution reserved for the Army’s most promising officers—earning a BA (Honours) in War Studies. His academic pursuits extended beyond the battlefield, culminating in a master’s degree in Business Administration, a testament to his intellectual breadth and strategic foresight.
Throughout his career, Khalid Masood held diverse command, staff, and instructional appointments, each reflecting his unwavering dedication, leadership acumen, and adaptability across multiple military disciplines. His legacy is one of service marked by discipline, intellect, and an unshakable commitment to the defence of Pakistan.
Before retiring, he spent approximately three and a half years with the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), where he gained invaluable experience in public relations, writing, broadcasting, and media management. His passion for writing is evident in the numerous articles he has authored in both English and Urdu, many of which have been published in prominent journals such as Weekly Hilal, Urdu Digest and others.
His recent book, “Against All Odds: The Life Story of Maj Arif Hameed”, Khalid Masood delves into the extraordinary life of a remarkable officer from his unit. Through meticulous research and a compelling narrative style, he unveils untold stories of resilience, bravery, and dedication, offering readers an insightful and engaging account of a pivotal era in Pakistan’s history.
Currently, He serves as the General Manager of a private company, where he continues to apply his leadership skills and extensive experience.
